Profile
Always curious, forever fluid, Lee lives on the edge and the in-between. A student before he is a teacher and embracing life's liminal lessons, he has always had a powerful aversion to boredom. A standard bio would list many roles - musician, campaign manager, teacher, debater, technologist, entrepreneur and AI prompt writer. None of them stick. None of them tell the whole story. The child of a pioneer in residential treatment centers for at-risk adolescents and a mother who worked as a career counselor, it was not surprising that Lee has dedicated himself to making improvements in education. In a pivotal moment, Lee introduced the concept of an all game-based learning environment to his high school world history students, and it caught on. Using this method each year, Lee began to notice patterns. He saw how giving students the freedom to make choices and be creative could help them develop new confidence and abilities. This reinforced his belief that rigid control of a class often missed the intricacies of life and that there may be other forces at work. Lee explored this by writing a graduate thesis paper that considered chaos and complexity theories, titled: Thriving on the Edge of Chaos: A Complex Adaptive Theory of Education. If you met Lee face to face you might go HikeStorming (a combination of hiking and brainstorming), take a fast-paced trail run or go for a round of disc golf. If you talked about teams or group dynamics, he might recall his band and orchestra experience to help illustrate how disparate parts can creatively move towards a coordinated performance. Lee lives somewhere between art and science and firmly believes this border-blurring approach is needed now more than ever as technology reshapes society. He continues exploring through generative AI prompts, hoping to pave creative paths to positively shape our collective future. Sign up for an appointment here. https://www.glidercell.com/
