How do I create a group assignment?

To create a group assignment in Teams, there are a few easy steps you can take by leveraging the assignment feature.

First, open Teams and go to the class team where you want to post the assignment. There are a few different places you can create an assignment from - you can click on the "Assignments" tab at the top of the channel conversation, or you can select the three dot "more options" menu and choose "New assignment".

When the assignment screen pops up, give your assignment a name and description. You can also optionally add a due date, file attachments, and rubrics. Most importantly, you'll want to select the "Group assignment" option under "Assign to". Here you can choose to auto-generate groups or manually assign students to groups.

Once you save the assignment, students will see it listed on the assignment tab. They can collaborate with their group members on any attached files or shared comments. As the teacher, you have full control and visibility into each group's progress and submission through the assignment overview.

Group assignments are a great way to facilitate teamwork and problem-solving in Teams. Let me know if you have any other questions! The education center also has tutorial videos on creating different assignment types if you need a visual guide.
